Transliteration

api rājyam ayodhyāyāṁ kārayiṣyāmy ahaṁ punaḥ | nihatya samare śatrūn āhatya janakātmajām

Translation

Mārkaṇḍeya said: “I shall have the kingdom established again in Ayodhyā. Having slain the enemies in battle, I will restore what is rightfully mine without harming Janaka’s daughter.” The line underscores a dharmic resolve: victory and political restoration are sought through just warfare against aggressors, while the innocent—especially Sītā, the blameless princess—must not be harmed.
