Mārkaṇḍeya said: “As a cool breeze, bearing the fragrance of kumuda, utpala, and lotus flowers, swept in, Rāma—resting upon the mountain—was suddenly awakened. The scene evokes the serene clarity of autumn’s sky and moon, while reminding that even a mighty destroyer of foes remains subject to nature’s gentle summons.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights how even heroic figures are moved by subtle forces of nature; it frames strength with humility and attentiveness—power does not exempt one from the rhythms of the world.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a tranquil moment: Rāma lies asleep on a mountain and is suddenly awakened when a cool, pleasant breeze carrying lotus fragrances blows in, setting the stage for the next events.
