Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis (सावित्र्याख्यान—सत्यवान्-गुणवर्णनं तथा अल्पायुषः पूर्वसूचना)
चरितब्रह्मचर्यास्ते कृतदाराश्च पार्थिव । यदा तदा दशरथ: प्रीतिमानभवत् सुखी
caritabrahmacaryās te kṛtadārāś ca pārthiva | yadā tadā daśarathaḥ prītimān abhavat sukhī ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: “O king, they lived in accordance with the discipline of sacred studentship, and in due course they became householders as well. Then, at the proper time, Daśaratha was filled with joy and lived happily.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse affirms āśrama-dharma: disciplined learning and self-restraint in brahmacarya, followed by responsible household life. When life proceeds in the proper order, it supports personal virtue and brings legitimate joy and stability to family and kingdom.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes how the princes (implied from context) completed their student discipline and, in due time, married. Their marriage becomes a cause of Daśaratha’s satisfaction and happiness, marking a successful transition from education to social duty.
