रावणोत्पत्तिः—तपसा वरलाभश्च
Rāvaṇa’s Origins and the Acquisition of Boons
तांस्तथेत्यब्रवीद् राजा सर्वभूतहिते रत: । यथा भवन्तो ब्रुवते करिष्यामि च तत् तथा,समस्त प्राणियोंके हितमें तत्पर रहनेवाले राजा युधिष्ठिरने उनसे कहा--“बहुत अच्छा, तुमलोग जैसा कहते हो, वैसा ही करूँगा”
tāṁs tathety abravīd rājā sarvabhūtahite rataḥ | yathā bhavanto bruvate kariṣyāmi ca tat tathā ||
Vaiśampāyana said: The king, devoted to the welfare of all beings, replied to them, “So be it. Just as you say, so indeed shall I do.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A righteous ruler prioritizes the welfare of all beings and responds to counsel with humility and readiness to act, aligning personal will with dharmic advice.
Yudhiṣṭhira, characterized as devoted to universal welfare, answers a group addressing him (tān) and agrees to carry out exactly what they have advised.
