Mārkaṇḍeya said: “By truthfulness, by righteousness, by conduct befitting your station, and by modesty, you have risen above all living beings. Your fame and your splendor shine forth—like Fire and like the Sun—O Pārtha, son of Kuntī.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
True excellence is grounded in satya (truth), dharma (righteousness), yathārha-vṛtti (role-appropriate conduct), and hrī (modest moral restraint). These virtues elevate a person above others and naturally manifest as lasting fame (yaśaḥ) and inner radiance (tejaḥ).
The sage Mārkaṇḍeya addresses Pārtha (Arjuna), praising him for his ethical qualities and declaring that his renown and brilliance shine like Agni (fire) and Sūrya (the sun), affirming his stature among beings.
