आरण्यकपर्वणि अध्यायः २१६ — इन्द्र-स्कन्द-संमुखता वज्रप्रहारश्च
Indra approaches Skanda; vajra strike and the arising of Viśākha
पतमानोउद्य नरके भवतास्मि समुद्धृतः । भवितव्यमथैवं च यद् दृष्टोईसि मयानघ
patamāno ’dya narake bhavatāsmī samuddhṛtaḥ | bhavitavyam athaivaṁ ca yad dṛṣṭo ’si mayānagha ||
As I was falling today into hell, I have been lifted out by you. And now that I have beheld you, O sinless one, it is certain that things will unfold exactly as you have instructed.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Association with a blameless, dharmic guide and accepting their instruction is portrayed as spiritually rescuing—turning one away from a hellish downfall and toward a destined course aligned with right conduct.
A brāhmaṇa declares that he was on the verge of falling into naraka but has been saved by the person he addresses as “anagha.” Having obtained this saving encounter (darśana), he expresses firm confidence that the future will proceed according to that person’s counsel.
