When I questioned him in this way, Hārdikya (Kṛtavarmā) narrated the matter to me in detail, O best of kings: how Śālva laid siege to Dvārakā and how the city was later freed when he withdrew and fled.

A ruler should seek clear, detailed, and reliable accounts before judging events of war. Accurate narration (vistareṇa) supports dharmic decision-making—protecting subjects through informed discernment rather than rumor or haste.
Vāsudeva reports that, after being questioned, Kṛtavarmā (Hārdikya) explained in detail how Śālva besieged Dvārakā and how the siege ended when Śālva withdrew and fled.
