उत्तङ्कोपाख्यानप्रारम्भः — Uttanka’s Tapas, Viṣṇu-stuti, and the Dhundhumāra Prophecy

Opening

तथा कथां शुभां श्रुत्वा मार्कण्डेयस्यथ धीमत: । विस्मिता: समपद्यन्त पुराणस्य निवेदनात्‌,बुद्धिमान्‌ मार्कण्डेयजीके मुखसे वह मंगलमयी कथा सुनकर पुराणोक्त बातोंका ज्ञान हो जानेसे सब लोग बड़े ही विस्मित और प्रसन्न हुए

tathā kathāṃ śubhāṃ śrutvā mārkaṇḍeyasya tha dhīmataḥ | vismitāḥ samapadyanta purāṇasya nivedanāt ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Having heard that auspicious discourse of the wise Mārkaṇḍeya, all those present were filled with wonder; and through his narration of the ancient Purāṇic account, they gained understanding and were deeply pleased.
