तस्मात् तेऊहं प्रदास्यामि विविध वसु भूरि च । दासीसहसं श्यामानां सुवस्त्राणामलंकृतम्
tasmāt te ’haṃ pradāsyāmi vividhaṃ vasu bhūri ca | dāsīsahasraṃ śyāmānāṃ suvastrāṇām alaṅkṛtam ||
“Therefore, I shall bestow upon you abundant and varied wealth, and also a thousand maidservants—dark-complexioned, well-clad, and adorned.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethic of dāna—generous bestowal of resources—as a socially valued response to merit, service, or a worthy request, emphasizing abundance and respectful provision.
Mārkaṇḍeya speaks in the first person, promising to grant the addressee plentiful wealth along with a large retinue of well-appointed maidservants, indicating a formal offering or boon within the ongoing story.
