Vaiśampāyana said: “O tiger among men, Pārtha, this auspicious moment has arrived because of your fortunate coming; therefore, for that very reason, you have accomplished a great task for me.” Then, at that very instant, an excellent chariot of the gods—a vimāna that could move at will—descended there with a mighty swoop. Having spoken these words to Yudhiṣṭhira, King Nahuṣa cast off the serpent-body, assumed a radiant divine form, and indeed went back to the heaven of the gods.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A righteous person’s timely presence and conduct can become the decisive condition for another’s liberation from suffering: dharmic encounter, respectful speech, and compassion help restore one who has fallen under a curse to their rightful state.
After speaking to Yudhiṣṭhira, Nahuṣa declares that Yudhiṣṭhira’s auspicious arrival has fulfilled a great purpose. Immediately a wish-moving celestial vimāna descends; Nahuṣa abandons his serpent-form, assumes a divine body, and returns to heaven.
