Description of the Monsoon and Autumn; Sarasvatī in the Pāṇḍavas’ Exile
Vaiśampāyana said: He exerted himself fiercely to free his own body, yet the heroic Bhīmasena could not, by any means, check or overpower that serpent.
The verse highlights the limits of mere physical power: intense effort may still fail when one is bound by a stronger force or consequence. It invites reflection on seeking right means—discernment, patience, and dharmic understanding—rather than relying only on strength.
A person struggles intensely to free himself, but Bhīmasena, despite being a great hero, cannot manage to restrain or defeat the serpent that has him in its grip.
