Adhyāya 168: Arjuna’s counters to māyā-rains and the onset of darkness

यथा दृष्टश्न॒ ते शक्रो भगवान् वा पिनाकधृक् । यथैवास्त्राण्यवाप्तानि यथैवाराधितश्ष ते
yathā dṛṣṭas tvaṁ te śakro bhagavān vā pinākadhṛk | yathaivāstrāṇy avāptāni yathaivārādhitaś ca te ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “Tell (me) everything exactly as it happened—how you beheld Śakra (Indra), or how you saw the blessed Pināka-bearing Lord (Śiva); how you obtained the celestial weapons; and how your acts of worship and divine propitiation were successfully accomplished. And since Indra has just declared, ‘Arjuna has carried out a deed most dear to me,’ what was that beloved task of his that you fulfilled?”
