“We have beheld sacred fords—holy and auspicious—and also many distinct forests, each in its own way delightful to the mind.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of tīrtha-darśana (visiting sacred places): such journeys are portrayed as purifying and auspicious (puṇya, śiva), and they also cultivate inner well-being by delighting and steadying the mind through contact with uplifting natural settings.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the travelers have already visited many holy pilgrimage sites and have also observed various forests, each distinct and pleasing—summarizing the progress and experiences of a sacred journey through different landscapes.
