Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path
tacchubhā śubham āsādya saugandhikam anuttamam | atīva muditā rājan bhīmasenam athābravīt, janamejaya ||
Vaiśampāyana said: O King (Janamejaya), having reached that auspicious, supremely excellent saugandhika lotus, the virtuous Draupadī became exceedingly delighted and then spoke to Bhīmasena.
The verse highlights how attraction to an extraordinary object can motivate action and thereby become a subtle test of self-control and dharma; delight and desire should be guided by discernment so that pursuit does not lead to harm or unrighteousness.
Draupadī reaches a supremely fragrant saugandhika lotus, becomes very pleased, and addresses Bhīma—setting up her request and the ensuing quest connected with obtaining such lotuses.
