स समिद्धे महत्यग्नौ शरीरमुपतापयन्‌ । जनयामास संतापमिन्द्रस्य सुमहातपा:

Transliteration

sa samiddhe mahātyagnau śarīram upatāpayan | janayāmāsa santāpam indrasya sumahātapāḥ ||

Translation

Lomaśa said: As he heated his body in a great, blazing fire, that mighty ascetic stirred intense anguish in Indra—his tapas becoming a force that disturbed even the lord of the gods. The episode shows how tapas, pursued with unwavering resolve, gathers moral and cosmic power, compelling the mighty to reckon with the ascetic’s purpose and restraint.
