Lomaśa said: Seeing that terrifying, dreadful-faced Marda approaching—his mouth gaping wide like Death itself, as though he would devour him—Indra, the lord of the gods and performer of a hundred sacrifices, was seized by fear.

Power and status do not exempt one from the moral consequences of unfair exclusion in sacred matters; restoration of rightful shares and truthful concession become the path to relief and order.
Lomaśa narrates that Indra, seeing the dreadful Marda advancing with a gaping mouth like Death, becomes terrified; this fear sets up Indra’s later concession granting the Aśvins eligibility for Soma in the sacrifice, linked to Cyavana’s intervention.
