Treachery (abhidroha) is portrayed as a seed of vast social catastrophe: unethical hostility does not remain private but ripens into collective violence, and the wrongdoer becomes subject to fitting retribution.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana foretells that a great war will erupt due to the addressee’s betrayal, and that in that war Bhīma will strike and break the opponent’s thigh with his mace—an anticipatory reference to a decisive, humiliating injury in the later conflict.
