Pātāla-varṇana (Nārada’s Description of the Netherworld) / पातालवर्णनम्
एष गाण्डीमयश्वापो लोकसंहारसम्भूत: । रक्ष्यते दैवतैर्नित्यं यतस्तद् गाण्डिवं धनु:
eṣa gāṇḍīmayaśvāpo lokasaṃhārasambhūtaḥ | rakṣyate daivatair nityaṃ yatas tad gāṇḍīvaṃ dhanuḥ ||
Kaṇva said: “This is the bow called Gāṇḍīva—born for the purpose of world-destruction at the time of cosmic dissolution. For that very reason the gods continually guard it. It is not a mere weapon of pride, but a divinely protected instrument whose use must be governed by dharma.”
