कुरुसभायां केशवागमन-सत्कारविधानम् / Preparations to Honor Keśava at the Kuru Court
सुमृष्टं भोजयित्वा च ब्राह्मणांस्तत्र केशव: । भुक्त्वा च सह तै: सर्वैरवसत् तां क्षपां सुखम्
sumṛṣṭaṃ bhojayitvā ca brāhmaṇāṃs tatra keśavaḥ | bhuktvā ca saha taiḥ sarvair avasat tāṃ kṣapāṃ sukham |
Vaiśampāyana said: Having first served the brāhmaṇas there with well-prepared, delicious food, Keśava then ate along with them all and spent that night there in comfort. The scene underscores a dharmic ideal of hospitality and reverence toward brāhmaṇas—service before self, and communal sharing rather than solitary enjoyment.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic hospitality: honoring guests—especially learned brāhmaṇas—by serving them well before attending to oneself, and sharing food and shelter in a spirit of respect and community.
Keśava (Kṛṣṇa) arranges and serves excellent food to the brāhmaṇas present, then eats together with them, and remains there for the night comfortably, as narrated by Vaiśampāyana.
