Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Having heard the king’s words—beneficial and grounded in both dharma and practical purpose—Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), worn down by grief, addressed Dāśārha (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) as he sat there.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Speech and counsel should be both hita (beneficial) and grounded in dharma and artha—moral rightness joined with practical wisdom—especially when addressing those in distress.
After hearing the king’s well-intentioned, dharma-and-artha-based words, Draupadī—overcome by grief—turns to Kṛṣṇa (Dāśārha) and begins to speak, setting up her lament and his reassurance.
