Sanatsujāta said: “O king, because the one Veda was not truly understood, it came to be divided into many Vedas. Yet in the one Reality—Truth itself—only a rare person is firmly established.”
सनत्युजात उवाच
Sanatsujāta teaches that scriptural multiplicity often arises from human non-understanding: the Veda is essentially one in truth, but appears as many through division and interpretation. True wisdom is to become established in Satya—the single Reality—rather than merely multiplying textual branches.
In the Sanatsujātīya section of Udyoga Parva, the sage Sanatsujāta instructs the king (addressed as rājendra, traditionally Dhṛtarāṣṭra). He shifts the focus from external scriptural plurality to inner realization, emphasizing that only a rare person abides in the one Truth.
