Sanatsujāta teaches that a truly disciplined person is one who has freed himself from certain inner faults—mental confusion, excessive contentious speech, and self-conceit. One who is released from these blemishes is recognized by the good as ‘self-controlled,’ fit for the path of dharma and wise counsel in a time of crisis.
