Vidura speaks of the moral order visible in the world: “the unfailing resolve of the gods, the effective influence of the wise, the humility that marks those truly educated, and the inevitable ruin that overtakes those who act in sin.”
विदुर उवाच
Dharma manifests through recognizable signs: divine resolve supports order, wise counsel has real efficacy, true learning produces humility, and sinful conduct leads to inevitable ruin.
In Vidura’s counsel during the Udyoga Parva, he summarizes observable principles of righteous governance and conduct, contrasting the traits of the wise and learned with the fate of wrongdoers.
