Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how remembrance of righteous, divinely guided action can overwhelm the mind: Krishna’s dharmic exertions for the Pandavas are so weighty that the narrator cannot settle into calm. It underscores Krishna as protector of dharma and the deep moral-emotional impact of recalling such deeds.

Vaishampayana reports that intelligence gathered by spies has informed him of Krishna’s extraordinary valor undertaken on behalf of the Pandavas. Addressing Sanjaya (also called Gavalgana), he confesses that repeatedly recalling Krishna’s heroic actions leaves him restless and unable to find peace.
