Adhyāya 20 — Rājadharma Argument for Paternal Inheritance and Timely Conciliation
सर्व कौशल्यमुक्त्वा55दौ पृष्टवा चैवमनामयम् । सर्वसेनाप्रणेतृणां मध्ये वाक्यमुवाच ह
sarva-kauśalyam uktvā pr̥ṣṭvā caivam anāmayam | sarva-senā-praṇetr̥ṇāṁ madhye vākyam uvāca ha ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Having first conveyed all words of well-being, and then inquired respectfully about their health and freedom from illness, he spoke in the midst of all the commanders of the army. The scene underscores a courtly ethic: even grave political business begins with courteous welfare-inquiry, before turning to matters of shared responsibility and impending conflict.
