सेनासमागमः — The Convergence of Armies
Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: ājagmuḥ pṛthivīpālāḥ kampayanta ivācalān | Jayadrathādayo 'nye rājānaḥ Sindhu-Sauvīradeśa-nivāsinaḥ parvatān kampayanta iva Duryodhanam upāgaman |
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: The kings, protectors of the earth, arrived as though they were shaking the very mountains. Jayadratha and other rulers—dwelling in the lands of Sindhu and Sauvīra—came to Duryodhana with such force and pomp that it seemed as if the mountains themselves were trembling. The scene underscores how worldly power gathers around ambition, swelling the momentum toward conflict.
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how the accumulation of political power and alliances can intensify adharma-driven ambition, creating an unstoppable momentum toward war; it implicitly cautions that might and numbers do not equal righteousness.
Jayadratha and other kings from Sindhu and Sauvīra arrive to join/meet Duryodhana, their grand approach described hyperbolically as if it makes mountains tremble—signaling the consolidation of Kaurava support.
