Bhīṣma’s Dream-Counsel and the Prasvāpa Astra (भीष्मस्वप्नदर्शनम् / प्रस्वापास्त्रोपदेशः)
tato ’haṁ punar evātha tān aṣṭau brahmavādinaḥ | adrākṣaṁ dīpyamānān vai grahān aṣṭāv ivoditān ||
Then, once again, I beheld those eight Brahma-speaking Vasus—radiant and blazing—appearing in the sky like eight planets newly risen. The scene underscored their divine authority and the moral weight of their presence, as though the cosmos itself were bearing witness.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how beings grounded in sacred truth (brahmavādinaḥ) appear with unmistakable radiance and authority, suggesting that dharma is not merely argued but also ‘manifest’—its presence felt as a cosmic, awe-inspiring reality.
Bhishma narrates that he again sees the eight Vasus, shining brilliantly in the sky, compared to eight planets rising—an image that conveys their divine stature and the extraordinary nature of the moment.
