Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
ततो दिव्यानि माल्यानि प्रादुरासंस्ततस्ततः । वादित्राणि च दिव्यानि मेघवृन्दानि चैव ह,तदनन्तर वहाँ इधर-उधरसे दिव्य मालाएँ प्रकट होने लगीं और दिव्य वाद्य बज उठे। साथ ही सब ओर मेघोंकी घटाएँ छा गयीं
tato divyāni mālyāni prādurāsaṃs tatastataḥ | vāditrāṇi ca divyāni meghavṛndāni caiva ha ||
Then, from various directions, celestial garlands suddenly appeared. Divine instruments began to resound, and clusters of clouds spread across the sky on every side—an auspicious, otherworldly atmosphere marking a moment of portent and divine approval within the unfolding events.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how the epic frames major turning points with auspicious or portentous signs—suggesting that human actions unfold under a larger moral-cosmic order (dharma), where approval, warning, or destiny may be indicated through extraordinary phenomena.
Bhishma describes a sudden manifestation of celestial garlands, the sounding of divine instruments, and clouds gathering everywhere—an atmosphere of supernatural auspiciousness/omen accompanying the ongoing events in the Udyoga Parva.
