Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
अयं गच्छामि कौरव्य कुरुक्षेत्र त्वया सह । भाषितं ते करिष्यामि तत्रागच्छ परंतप
ayaṃ gacchāmi kauravya kurukṣetraṃ tvayā saha | bhāṣitaṃ te kariṣyāmi tatrāgaccha parantapa ||
Bhīṣma said: “O Kauravya, I am going to Kurukṣetra together with you. There, O scorcher of foes, I shall carry out what I have spoken to you. Come there.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse foregrounds kṣatriya-ethics of keeping one’s word: Bhīṣma frames the coming battle as the arena where a spoken commitment (bhāṣitam) must be fulfilled, emphasizing honor and accountability even amid impending violence.
Bhīṣma addresses a Kuru prince, declaring that he is proceeding to Kurukṣetra with him and instructing him to come there, where Bhīṣma will carry out what he has previously promised or stated—setting the stage for the confrontation on the battlefield.
