अम्बा–राम–भीष्म संवादः
Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
यच्चापि कत्थसे राम बहुश: परिषत्सु वै । निर्जिता: क्षत्रिया लोके मयैकेनेति तच्छूणु
yaccāpi katthase rāma bahuśaḥ pariṣatsu vai | nirjitāḥ kṣatriyā loke mayaikene iti tac chṛṇu ||
And, Rama, as for what you so often boast in crowded assemblies—saying, “I alone have conquered all the kṣatriyas in the world”—now listen to the reply to that claim.
राम उवाच
The verse critiques self-glorifying speech in public forums and insists that claims of greatness must be answered with truth and accountability; ethical stature is shown through restraint and veracity, not repeated boasting.
The speaker addresses Rama directly, referring to Rama’s repeated public claim that he single-handedly defeated all the kṣatriyas of the world, and announces that he will now give a response/refutation to that boast.
