Bhīṣma’s Appraisal of Pāṇḍava-Alliance Warriors (Śikhaṇḍin, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, and Allied Kings)
गाण्डीवं च धर्नुर्दिव्यं ते चाश्वा वातरंहस: । अभेद्यं कवचं दिव्यमक्षय्यौ च महेषुधी
gāṇḍīvaṃ ca dhanuḥ divyaṃ te cāśvā vātarāṃhasaḥ | abhedyaṃ kavacaṃ divyam akṣayyau ca maheṣudhī ||
Bhīṣma said: “You possess the divine bow Gāṇḍīva; your horses are swift as the wind. You also have an impenetrable divine armor, and two great quivers whose supply of arrows never runs out.” In this praise of Arjuna’s equipment, the epic underscores how extraordinary power and protection are gathered for a righteous cause, while also reminding the listener that such gifts intensify one’s responsibility to act with restraint and in accordance with dharma.
