Vaiśampāyana said: “Sātyaki, Cekitāna, and the mighty Bhīmasena—these are the heroic commanders of the army, all ready even to lay down their bodies (their lives). Therefore they are fit to lead and direct the Pāṇḍava host.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Effective leadership in a dharmic struggle rests on proven valor, loyalty, and willingness to sacrifice; commanders are praised not for power alone but for steadfast commitment to the cause.
In the war-preparation context of Udyoga Parva, Vaiśampāyana identifies key Pāṇḍava-aligned commanders—Sātyaki, Cekitāna, and Bhīmasena—describing them as heroes ready to give their lives, thus suitable to direct the army.
