“I deem Dhṛṣṭadyumna fit to be commander of the host, O subduer of foes.” When Kṛṣṇa had spoken thus, the foremost of men—the Pāṇḍavas—were filled with joy. Then, crying “Make ready! Make ready!”, the whole army ran about in eager haste, and the great shout of triumph from those glad-hearted heroes rang on every side.

Educational Q&A

Right action in a crisis requires capable leadership and unified morale. Kṛṣṇa’s endorsement of Dhṛṣṭadyumna emphasizes choosing a commander fit for the task, so that a dharmic cause is supported by disciplined organization rather than mere emotion.

Kṛṣṇa expresses his judgment that Dhṛṣṭadyumna should be the army’s commander. Hearing this, the Pāṇḍavas rejoice and the forces begin energetic preparations for the impending war.
