While that lion among kings governed his realm in accordance with dharma, three sons were born to him—renowned and radiant, comparable to the gods. The verse underscores that righteous rule is not merely political order but a moral foundation that brings prosperity and worthy lineage.
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse presents dharma as the guiding principle of kingship: when a ruler administers the realm righteously, social order and prosperity follow, symbolized here by the birth of illustrious, ‘god-like’ heirs.
Vāyudeva continues a genealogical-historical account, stating that the eminent king (Pratīpa, by context) ruled according to dharma, and during such righteous शासन (governance) three celebrated sons were born to him.
