कर्ण–कृष्णसंवादः (Karṇa–Kṛṣṇa-saṃvādaḥ) — Karṇa’s Statement on Lineage, Loyalty, and the ‘Śastra-yajña’ Metaphor
पितृपक्षे च ते पार्था मातृपक्षे च वृष्णय: । दौ पक्षावभिजानीहि त्वमेतौ पुरुषर्षभ
pitṛpakṣe ca te pārthā mātṛpakṣe ca vṛṣṇayaḥ | dvau pakṣāv abhijānīhi tvam etau puruṣarṣabha ||
Vāyu said: “On your father’s side stand the Pārthas, and on your mother’s side stand the Vṛṣṇis. O best of men, recognize these two allied wings as your own.”
वायुदेव उवाच
One should clearly recognize the legitimate networks of support grounded in both paternal and maternal lineage; dharmic strength is reinforced when rightful kinship alliances are acknowledged and honored.
Vāyu addresses a hero (implicitly a Pāṇḍava) and points out that he has two strong supporting ‘wings’: the Pārthas on the paternal side and the Vṛṣṇis on the maternal side, emphasizing consolidated backing in the unfolding conflict.
