अध्याय १२२ — कृष्णस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति नीत्युपदेशः
Kṛṣṇa’s Ethical Counsel to Duryodhana
इति श्रीमहाभारते उद्योगपर्वणि भगवद्यानपर्वणि गालवचरिते त्रयोविंशत्यधिकशततमो<ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate udyogaparvaṇi bhagavadyānaparvaṇi gālavacarite trayoviṁśatyadhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Udyoga Parva—specifically in the section concerning the divine mission (Bhagavad-yāna) and the episode of Gālava—ends the one-hundred-and-twenty-third chapter. This is a concluding colophon marking the close of the chapter and situating the narrative within its larger ethical frame: the approach to war, the pursuit of rightful conduct, and the consequences of vows and duties.
नारद उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches indirectly by framing the episode within the Mahābhārata’s ethical architecture—actions and vows (as in Gālava’s story) are evaluated in the wider context of dharma and the looming conflict that demands discernment and restraint.
The text is closing the chapter: it identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the book (Udyoga Parva), the internal section (Bhagavad-yāna), and the sub-episode (Gālava-carita), and then states that this is the 123rd chapter.
