गालवेन उशीनरराजसमागमः
Gālava’s Audience with King Uśīnara
इति श्रीमहाभारते उद्योगपर्वणि भगवद्यानपर्वणि गालवचरिते सप्तदशाधिकशततमो<ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate udyogaparvaṇi bhagavadyānaparvaṇi gālavacarite saptadaśādhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Udyoga Parva, in the Bhagavad-yāna section, in the episode narrating Gālava’s story, ends the one hundred and seventeenth chapter.
दिवोदास उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches how the epic self-organizes its narrative—by clearly marking the end of a chapter and locating it within larger thematic units (Udyoga Parva → Bhagavad-yāna → Gālava-carita). Ethically, it signals that the surrounding material belongs to the context of Krishna’s peace-mission and the moral tensions preceding war.
The text is concluding a chapter: it states that the 117th chapter (within the relevant subdivision) has ended, and it identifies the broader setting as the Udyoga Parva, specifically the Bhagavad-yāna section, and within that the episode concerning Gālava.
