रसातल-वर्णनम्
Rasātala Description: Surabhi, Phenapāḥ, and the Directional Cows
Nārada uvāca: Mātale! yadi imeṣu tava kācid rucir na bhavet, tad āgaccha, anyatra gacchāvaḥ. adhunāhaṃ tvāṃ tatra sthāne neṣyāmi, yatra te kaścid varo 'vaśyaṃ prāpsyate. iti śrīmahābhārate udyogaparvaṇi bhagavadyānaparvaṇi mātalivarānveṣaṇe ekādhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ.
Nārada said: “Mātali, if you find no delight in these, then come—let us go elsewhere. Now I shall lead you to a place where you will surely obtain some boon.” Thus ends the hundred-and-first chapter (101) in the Udyoga Parva, in the Bhagavadyāna section, in the episode of Mātali’s search for boons.
नारद उवाच
Discernment and right guidance: when a path or option does not resonate with one’s rightful aim, a wise guide redirects the seeker toward a more fitting opportunity—suggesting that boons (rewards) are connected to appropriate places, actions, and readiness.
Nārada is guiding Mātali during the episode of searching for boons. Seeing that Mātali has no interest in the options already presented, Nārada proposes moving to another place where Mātali is assured of receiving some boon.
