Rules for Dharmic Victory in Kṣatriya Engagement

Thus, in the revered Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Śānti Parva—specifically in the Rājadharma-anuśāsana section on the instruction of royal duties—ends the ninety-fourth chapter, whose subject is the Vāmadeva-gītā. Here the narrative pauses to mark the completion of a unit of teaching on kingship and dharma, framed as authoritative counsel.
भीष्म उवाच
This line functions as a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it signals the completion of a chapter within the royal-dharma instruction. Its ethical context is that the surrounding material is framed as systematic guidance on righteous governance (rājadharma) delivered with scriptural authority.
The text marks a formal pause: within Śānti Parva’s rājadharma instruction, the chapter focused on the Vāmadeva-gītā is declared complete. It is an editorial/narrative closure statement rather than a spoken argument or story event.
