Kṛṣṇa’s Dhyāna and the Prompt to Question Bhīṣma (कृष्णध्यानं भीष्मप्रश्नप्रेरणा च)
tava cādyasya devasya kṣarasyaivākṣarasya ca | darśanaṃ tvasya lābhaḥ syāt tvaṃ hi brahmamayo nidhiḥ ||
Vāsudeva said: “You are the primordial Lord—the very embodiment of both the perishable and the imperishable. For those who behold you, that vision itself becomes a great gain; for you are a treasure-house made of Brahman.”
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse teaches that the Supreme is the source and support of both the changing (kṣara) and the unchanging (akṣara). Therefore, mere ‘darśana’—direct encounter with such a being—becomes a profound spiritual gain, because the person addressed is described as a repository of Brahman itself.
Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) is praising and identifying the one before him as the primordial divine reality, affirming that seeing him is highly beneficial for others. The statement frames the encounter not as ordinary meeting but as a transformative audience with the Absolute.
