Yudhiṣṭhira’s Post-Accession Settlements and Approach to Vāsudeva
vaiśampāyana uvāca | dhṛtarāṣṭrāya tad rājyaṃ gāndhāryai vidurāya ca | nivedya susthavad rājā sukham āste yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
Having entrusted that kingdom to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, to Gāndhārī, and to Vidura—placing it, as it were, in their care—King Yudhiṣṭhira remained steady in health and dwelt in peace.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
True stability in rulership comes from dharma: honoring elders and wise counselors, discharging responsibility without egoistic clinging, and cultivating peace through service and restraint after conflict.
After the war, Yudhiṣṭhira places the practical care of the kingdom in the hands of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Gāndhārī, and Vidura, and by dedicating himself to their service and guidance he becomes composed and lives in peace.
