बाढमेवं करिष्यामि यथा मे भाषते भवान् | इमां हि रजनीं साधो निवसस्व मया सह
bāḍham evaṁ kariṣyāmi yathā me bhāṣate bhavān | imāṁ hi rajanīṁ sādho nivasasva mayā saha, vidvan |
The brāhmaṇa said: “So be it; I shall do exactly as you instruct me. O good sir, O learned one—stay here with me for this night. Rest comfortably and fully dispel your fatigue; then in the morning you may proceed to the place you desire.”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse highlights atithi-dharma (ethical hospitality): honoring wise guests, accepting good counsel, and ensuring a traveler’s rest and well-being before continuing the journey.
A brāhmaṇa responds respectfully to a learned person’s advice, agrees to follow it, and invites him to stay the night, rest, and depart in the morning for his intended destination.
