Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel (अतिथिसत्कारः प्रज्ञानवचनस्य च पराश्वासनम्)

कल्पयन्ति हि मां विप्रा अथर्वाणविदस्तथा । अथर्ववेदी ब्राह्मण मुझे ही कृत्याओं आभिचारिक प्रयोगोंसे सम्पन्न पंचकल्पात्मक “अथर्ववेद' मानते हैं ।। शाखाभेदाश्न ये केचिद्‌ याश्व शाखासु गीतय:

Indeed, the brahmins who know the Atharvan conceive of me in this very way. The Atharvavedic brahmins regard me as the “Atharvaveda” of five kalpas, furnished with kṛtyā and ābhicāra rites. And some, owing to differences among the branches (śākhā), sing of it within those very branches.
