Bhīṣma said: “Among them, the imperishable pair Nārāyaṇa and Nara reached the hermitage of Badarī and, seated upon a golden chariot, undertook severe austerities. The passage highlights the ideal of self-restraint and spiritual discipline as the foundation of enduring righteousness.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse elevates tapas—disciplined austerity and self-restraint—as a sustaining power behind dharma. Even exalted beings model inner control and spiritual effort, implying that ethical stability is grounded in practiced discipline rather than mere status or speech.
Bhīṣma describes how the imperishable duo Nārāyaṇa and Nara go to Badaryāśrama and begin intense austerities while seated on a golden chariot/cart, presenting them as paradigms of ascetic resolve and spiritual purpose.
