Adhyāya 325: Nārada in Śvetadvīpa—Stotra to the Nirguṇa Mahātman
तस्मै शय्यासन दिव्यं देवह रत्नभूषितम्
tasmai śayyāsanaṁ divyaṁ devaharatnabhūṣitam
Bhīṣma said: “To him was presented a divine couch-seat, adorned with celestial jewels,” indicating the honor shown to a worthy recipient and the dharmic ideal of offering fitting hospitality and respect according to merit.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores dharmic conduct through appropriate honor and hospitality: offering a worthy person a fitting seat/resting place symbolizes respect, recognition of merit, and proper social-ethical order.
In Bhīṣma’s narration, someone is ceremonially honored by being given a splendid, divine couch-seat adorned with celestial jewels—an image of royal or sacred reception and esteem.
