Śvetadvīpa-varṇana and Śāstra-pravartana (Śānti Parva 322)
उत्सवादुत्सवं यान्ति स्वर्गात् स्वर्ग सुखात् सुखम् । श्रद्धानाश्न दान्ताश्व धनस्था: शुभकारिण:
utsavād utsavaṁ yānti svargāt svarga-sukhāt sukham | śraddhayāśnanti dāntāś ca dhanāsthāḥ śubha-kāriṇaḥ ||
Bhīṣma said: “From one sacred celebration they proceed to another; from heaven to heaven, from one joy to a higher joy. With faith they partake of what is offered, self-restrained and disciplined; established in rightful prosperity, they become doers of good.”

Bhīṣma links ethical discipline and faith with auspicious action: those who act with śraddhā, restraint, and beneficence gain progressively higher joys—symbolized as moving from festival to festival and from heaven to heaven.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the fruits of righteous conduct. Here he describes the upward course of the virtuous—faithful, self-controlled people who use their prosperity for good and thus attain ever-increasing happiness.
