Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)
पुत्रा दारास्तथैवात्मा कोशो मित्राणि संचया: । परै: साधारणा होते तैस्तैरेवास्य हेतुभि:
putrā dārās tathaivātmā kośo mitrāṇi sañcayāḥ | paraiḥ sādhāraṇā hy ete tais tair evāsya hetubhiḥ ||
Bhishma said: “Sons, wives, one’s own body, wealth, friends, and accumulated resources—these are, in truth, common to others as well. By the very same grounds on which a man is called a ‘king’, other people too can be spoken of as his equals.”
