नारद–शुक संवादः
Impermanence, Svabhāva, and Śuka’s Resolve for Yoga
तदनन्तर मुझे तापसे दग्ध होता देख भगवान् सूर्यने कहा--'“तात! तुम दो घड़ीतक इस तापको सहन करो। फिर यह स्वयं ही शीतल एवं शान्त हो जायगा” ।।
tad-anantaraṁ māṁ tāpasena dagdhaṁ hotaṁ dṛṣṭvā bhagavān sūrya uvāca— “tāta! tvaṁ dve ghaṭike tāvat imaṁ tāpaṁ sahiṣyase; tataḥ svayam eva śītalaṁ śāntaṁ ca bhaviṣyati.” śītībhūtaṁ ca māṁ dṛṣṭvā bhagavān āha bhāskaraḥ— “pratiṣṭhāsyati te vedaḥ sakhilaḥ sottaro dvija.”
After that, seeing me being scorched by ascetic heat, the blessed Sun said: “Dear child, endure this burning for two ghaṭikās; then it will of itself become cool and calm.” When I had become completely cooled, the divine Bhāskara, seeing me, declared: “O twice-born, the entire Veda—complete, together with its ‘uttara’ (the Upaniṣads/culminating portions)—will become firmly established within you.”

Endurance and disciplined tapas lead to inner cooling (śānti) and readiness for higher knowledge; when the seeker is purified and steadied, sacred learning—up to the Upaniṣadic culmination—can become firmly established within.
Yājñavalkya describes being scorched by ascetic heat; the Sun-god instructs him to endure briefly until the heat naturally subsides. Once cooled, the Sun blesses him that the complete Veda, including its culminating teachings (uttara/Upaniṣads), will be established in him.
