एवमेषो5सकृत्पूर्व क्रीडार्थमभिमन्यते
evameṣo 'sakṛt pūrvaṁ krīḍārtham abhimanyate
Thus, again and again as before, he imagines it to be merely a play—treating what should be weighed with seriousness as if it were only for sport.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse criticizes the tendency to trivialize serious matters: a person repeatedly falls into the habit of treating life, duty, or moral consequence as mere entertainment, which signals ethical carelessness and delusion.
Vasiṣṭha is commenting on someone’s recurring mindset—describing how, as in the past, he again and again ‘considers it play,’ implying a repeated failure to learn or to adopt a sober, dharmic perspective.
