Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī
नैवावामन्यत तदा प्रीतिमत्येव चाभवत् । देवर्षिका मुँह वानरके समान देखकर भी सुकुमारीने उनकी अवहेलना नहीं की। वह उनके प्रति अपना प्रेम बढ़ाती ही गयी
naivāvāmanyata tadā prītimaty eva cābhavat | devarṣikaṁ mukha-vānarake samānaṁ dṛṣṭvāpi sukumārī naivāvamanyata | sā tasmin prati sva-prītiṁ vardhayām āsaiva ||
She did not slight him at that time; rather, she became ever more affectionate. Even on seeing the divine seer’s face resembling that of a monkey, the delicate maiden Sukumārī did not treat him with contempt; instead, her love for him continued to grow.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Do not judge or dishonor someone based on outward appearance; uphold dharma by recognizing inner worth and responding with respect and steady goodwill.
Kṛṣṇa describes a maiden who, even after noticing a divine seer’s monkey-like face, does not mock or reject him; instead, she grows more affectionate toward him.
